Kris Groce begin his seconds season as an assistant coach at Cal State Monterey Bay for the 2019–20 campaign. He assists in all operations of practices game execution and student–athlete recruitment. He also serves as the team’s video coordinator and assists with travel logistics.
Groce joined the Otter bench after spending the previous three seasons as the associate head coach at Chiawna High School in Pasco, Wash. He was involved in all aspects of coaching at Chiawana, including tactical analysis and skill development. He served as a camp director and oversaw the Riverhawk academic improvement and success program.
Otter Head Coach Issaac Williams first work with him when Groce served as an assistant at Eastern Oregon from 2013–15. Groce was involved in all areas of coaching and also had a role in the team’s fundraising activities.
Groce got his start in collegiate coaching during the 2009–10 season at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Wash., where he earned All–NWAACC Eastern Region MVP honors as a student–athlete in 2004. He concluded his collegiate playing career as an All–American at Eastern Oregon, leading the Mountaineers to their first NAIA Elite eight appearance as a senior in 2009.
