The goal of the Otter Backers Club is establish a sustainable, community driven model of philanthropic support for the department’s 14 NCAA Division II programs and 300 student-athletes.
PURPOSE
Otter Backers is designed to provide consistent, unrestricted and sport designated annual support that directly enhances the student-athlete experience. Funds raised support:
- Scholarships
- Team travel and competition expenses
- Equipment and uniforms
- Sports performance resources
- Championship and postseason opportunities
MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE
Otter Backers features
tiered giving levels ranging from Monte’s ($100) through the Legacy Scholarship Circle ($9,187), which represents the cost of one year of tuition and fees for a CSUMB student-athlete. Each level offers recognition and engagement opportunities while emphasizing measurable impact.
RECOGNITION
All gifts to Otter Backers, which includes general athletics fund and sport specific fund options, are recognized through Otter Backers membership. Donors may direct their support to a specific team or to the department overall. All Otter Backer gifts count toward the tiered giving level recognition.
*Donors may choose to decline benefits in order to make a 100% tax deductible gift.
LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP CIRCLE
Introducing the Legacy Scholarship Circle, our premier level of scholarship support for Otter Athletics. Members commit to an annual gift of $9,187 to fully cover one year of in-state tuition and fees for one student-athlete. While Legacy Scholarship Circle members enjoy exclusive benefits, the greatest reward is knowing your support directly strengthens our teams and enhances their ability to compete for championships.
