Biography
2017–18 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Competed in all 5 CSUMB meets as a true freshman…ran the 10th fastest 5K in Otters history with a 18:56.30 at the Coyote Challenge on the CSUSB campus course (Sept. 23)…ran her 6K PR of 23:21.44 in her first collegiate meet at the Humboldt State Invitational on the Patrick’s Point State Park course (Sept. 9)…on the track she ran CSUMB’s 4th fastest 5,000 of the season with a 19:01.3 PR at the Hornet Invitational (Mar. 17)…ran a leg of CSUMB’s school record–setting 4x400 relay team that went 4:15.67 at the S.F. State Distance Carnival (Mar. 31).
High School:Joined the Otter raft from Downey High School in eastern Los Angeles County where she competed in cross country and in track as a middle distance runner…set her 5K PR of 18:49.2 at the CIF State Championship Meet on the well–respected Woodward Park course in Fresno…3–mile PR is 18:03.0 at Silverlakes Sports Park…best track marks include 2:30.0 on the 800 meters, 5:24.0 in the 1,600 and 11:37.0 in the 3,200.
Personal:Gomez is majoring in environmental science at CSUMB…plans to attend grad school and earn a master’s in environmental studies…won several team awards, including Most Dedicated Athlete, Character Award and Perseverance Awards at DHS…parents are Gina Atman and Mauricio Gomez.
