Biography
2011 – 12 – Cal State Monterey Bay
He didn’t set high water marks for either games played or started, nevertheless, James Albert made arguably his biggest impact as a junior, setting career highs in scoring (4.6 ppg), field goal percentage (55.4) and free–throw percentage (71.1)… scored in double figures five times, including a career–high 16 points at Cal State East Bay (Dec. 30)…grabbed a career–high eight rebounds against Cal State L.A. (Dec. 18)…career–high two steals came at Sonoma State (Feb. 2).
2010–11 – Cal State Monterey Bay
Albert increased his role as a sophomore, besting his freshman numbers by playing in 26 games and starting 15…led the team by shooting 54.3 percent from the field…matched his season–high with 12 points against Cal State East Bay (Feb. 3) and Southern Mississippi (Dec. 11)…also grabbed a season–high seven rebounds in the East Bay game…passed for a season–high three assists at Humboldt State (Jan. 13).
2009–10 – Cal State Monterey Bay
Albert saw significant action as a freshman, appearing in 23 games…started his first collegiate game against Academy of Art (Nov. 15)…scored a season–high 10 points in just 11 minutes at Seattle Pacific (Nov. 21).
High School
Albert was the Christian League MVP as a senior at Aquinas High School, when he averaged 16.1 points and 14.5 rebounds per game for the Falcons…led Aquinas to the Christian League title and the third round of the CIF Southern Section Division I Tournament in 2009…scored a season–high 31 points in a win over San Gabriel Academy (Feb. 18, 2009)…reached double figures in rebounding every game as a senior, including three 20–rebound performances…was also an All–Christian League pick as a sophomore and junior…lettered in baseball and was an all–league pick in golf for the Falcons.
Personal
Albert is majoring in kinesiology… earned CCAA All–Academic honors with a 3.45 GPA in 2011–12…is considering graduate school and working with junior golf after graduation…an accomplished junior golfer, Albert played in two tournaments with the nationally–ranked Otter men’s golf team in 2012…earned CCAA Scholar–Athlete recognition for 2010–11…is the son of Robert and Deborah Albert…cousin Vinnie Zabukovec played at Cal State L.A. in the early 2000’s.
