SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball said farewell to is senior class with a solid effort, but a late rally came up just short in a 78–70 loss to Cal Poly Pomona Saturday in The Kelp Bed.

Seniors Konner Baroni (Auburn/Placer HS), Blake Jones (Canberra, Aust.) and Alec Zambie (Plano, Texas/Ft. Worth Christian) all made their final collegiate appearances for the Otters. Jones led that trio by scoring 10 points and pulling down five boards.

The game stayed close throughout the first half, with Pomona scoring the final four points to go up by nine, 33–24, at the break. The Otters kept the Broncos within arm's reach throughout the second half and had several opportunities to make it a one-possession game down the stretch, but couldn't manage to get over the hump.

Freshman Michael Mora (Palo Alto/Univ. of Vermont) led the Otters on both ends of the floor with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Sophomores Joey Bilello (Littleton, Colo./ThunderRidge HS) and Jaden Tengan (Santa Clarita Christian) also reached double figures, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively.
