SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team opened CCAA play with a 1-0 defeat to top-ranked Cal Poly Pomona Friday evening at Cardinale Stadium.
A penalty kick goal proved to be the difference for the Broncos as Vanessa Cruz converted in the 69
th minute to secure the victory and keep CPP unblemished at 8-0 on the season.
The Broncos out-shot the Otters, 17-6. Sophomore
Morgan Purvey paced CSUMB with three shots. Newcomer
Willow Baltazar made five saves.
The Otters will return to Cardinale Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 5, when they welcome Cal State San Bernardino. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
