SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team opened its season by narrowly dropping its 2024 debut to Central Washington, 1-0, Thursday evening at Cardinale Stadium.
The Otters dominated the first half, not allowing a single Wildcat shot to head into the intermission with a 6-0 advantage. CSUMB would finish the game with a 13-4 shot margin.
The aggressive play also showcased a 7-3 ledger in corner kicks.
Making her Otter debut,
Jaedyn Sanders fired off three shots to claim the game-high lead with
Evelyn Sandoval.
Central Washington scored the lone goal of the contest in the 59
th minute when Jordan Bartlow finished from close range. She paced the Wildcats with three shots. Leighton Menge was credited with five saves.
The Otters will hit the road to face Jessup University on Monday, Sept. 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. in Rocklin.
