TURLOCK – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team capped off its 2023-24 season with a 93-85 loss at Fitzpatrick Arena against Stanislaus State Thursday evening.
The Otters finish the season 7-20 overall and 5-17 in CCAA play.
Charles Johnston broke the single season rebounding record as he pulled down 18 boards to finish the campaign with 278, surpassing the previous mark of 274 held by Joe Mitchell (2008-09). The Australian chipped in 12 points, three assists and two blocks.
Jaden Tengan finished his freshman season with a career-best 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting. The Sacramento native handed out five assists and recorded four rebounds.
Despite shooting 52-percent from the floor and outrebounding Stanislaus, 38-29, the Otters could not gain an edge despite a fast start in the contest.
JOHNSTON IS CSUMB'S FIRST DOUBLE–DOUBLE KING:
Charles Johnston has become the first player in CSUMB history to average a double–double for an entire season. He finished the season averaging 13 ppg and 10.7 rpg.
JOHNSTON BREAKS REBOUNDING RECORD: With his 18 rebounds,
Charles Johnston breaks the CSUMB single-season rebound record. He caps off the season with 278 on the year, breaking the previous mark of 274, held by Joe Mitchell.
