Otter Keep Rolling With Sweep Of San Bernardino

CSUMB wins 5–2, 13–3 to run winning streak to 14 games

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay softball team stayed hot Friday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader from Cal State San Bernardino at the CSUSB Softball Park. The Otters won Game 1 5–2 then rolled to a 13–3, 5–inning victory in Game 2.

CSUMB (28–10, 13–9 CCAA) ran its winning streak to 14 games with the sweep, the third longest streak in program history. Senior Jensen Main (Stevenson School/Sacramento State) scattered five hits and allowed no earned runs in the opener. Freshman Kassidy Stetler (Tamalpais HS) allowed just four hits in the nightcap.

The Otters had to rally from a 2–1 deficit in the fifth inning of the first game. Jessilyn Barrow's (Folsom HS) RBI single tied it in the fifth before Abby Alcayaga (Sonoma Valley HS) singled home the eventual game winner an inning later.

CSUMB took advantage of three first-inning errors to jump to a 3–0 lead in the nightcap. Barrow's 2–run single capped a 4–run third inning that put the Otters in run rule territory up 9–1. They added deuces in the fourth and fifth innings to put the game on ice.

Barrow finished the day 7–for–8 with five RBI to lead the Otter offense. She was one of six Otters to hit safely in both games.

GAME 1 WAS OVER WHEN… Haylee Clay's RBI single added a second insurance run, pushing the Otter lead to 5–2 in the seventh.

GAME 2 WAS OVER WHEN OVER WHEN… Jessilyn Barrow's 2–run single capped a 4–run Otter third, giving CSUMB a 9–1 lead.

MAIN MOVIN' UP… Jensen Main earned her 17th win of the season (17–6) Friday at Cal State San Bernardino. That ties her with Diane Ortiz (2010) and Hayley Fein (2018, 2019) for No. 7 on the Otter single–season wins list. Next up Angela Cabral, who won 19 games in 2008.
