Men’s Basketball Notebook: Otters Open CCAA Slate vs. Broncos

Cal Poly Pomona will provide a tough opening test Thursday night

MBB NOTEBOOK: vs. CAL POLY POMONA

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team will look to build upon its best CCAA finish ever in 2021–22 when it hosts perennial power Cal Poly Pomona to open its conference schedule Thursday night (Dec. 1). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. as the nightcap of doubleheader action with the Otter women.

CSUMB (2–3 overall, 0–0 CCAA) went 12–6 in league play last season to finish in fourth place, its highest conference finish since join the NCAA Division II ranks in 2005. Getting off to a fast start will be tough against a Cal Poly (3–1, 0–0) team that has held its last two opponents under 60 points.

The Otters split games in tournament play their first two weekends this season. Dominican University then upset them by rallying for 77–72 win Sunday evening in The Kelp Bed.
