ARCATA, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer dropped its first overtime decision of 2019 with a 1–0 loss to Humboldt State Sunday at College Creek Field.

Kendal Spencer finished a cross from the middle of the box barely one minute into extra time. The loss leaves CSUMB at 7–4–1 overall and 2–5–0 in CCAA play.

CSUMB was unbeaten in its first four overtime games of the season before losing Sunday's result. The Otters are now 3–1–1 in OT this season and 4–1–5 in their last 10 overtime games dating back to 2017.

After the host Lumberjacks carried the action for much of the first half, the teams played an entertaining second stanza that featured 45 minutes of end–to–end play. The Otters nearly took the lead in the 59th minute finding the back of the net off the rebound from a Sophia Zertuche effort only to be adjudged offside.

Jasmine Safarians got things started in overtime, sending a shot wide. But Humboldt flew right back down the field. Kelsey Best sent a cross into the middle of the box where Spencer received the pass 10 yards out from where she netted the golden goal.

Senior defender Alyson Schade made her fifth start in goal and made seven saves. Safarians led the offense by taking two of CSUMB's seven shots.

The Otters return to action Friday when they begin their final homestand by hosting Cal State L.A. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. as the nightcap of men's/women's doubleheader action.
