SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — A career–high 18 points from junior
Jonquis Bouyea (Seaside HS) was barely not enough to lift the Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team over Cal State San Bernardino. A pair of Coyote free throws broke a 60–60 tie with 18 seconds remaining to lift CSUSB to a 64–60 win Saturday night in Coussoulis Arena.
CSUMB ended the first half on a 15–0 run to turn a 25–15 deficit into a 30–25 lead at the break. San Bernardino rallied to take a 58–50 lead with just 1:18 to play when the Otters responded one more time, using a 10–2 spurt to knot the game at 60 on a
Kevin Warren (Oakland/St. Mary's HS) layup.
THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Eli Brown hit a pair of free throws with two seconds remaining to account for the final margin.

THE LAST WORD… "I was very proud of our effort tonight. We could have easily mailed it in when we got down to start the game and we didn't. Again, we could have quite with less than two minutes left and down eight but we were able to tie it up. It's hard to win one on the road when we only shoot four free throws for the entire game. But we competed tonight and that was good to see after last night's game.." –
CSUMB Head Coach Rob Bishop
THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters return home to begin a 2–game stand in The Kelp Bed versus West Region contender San Francisco State Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
GO OTTERS!
