SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team battled Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday afternoon looking for a weekend split of Southern California teams. However, CSUMB fell behind early and could not find the offensive rhythm to stage a comeback leading to a 2-0 loss to the Toros.
A foul in the box led to a Cal State Dominguez Hills penalty kick in which MB goalkeeper
Victoria Whyte initially blocked but was called for a moving violation as she took steps toward the opposing player. As a result, a redo of the penalty kick was award which Anju Takei converted for her first goal of the season and a 1-0 Toro lead. With eleven minutes left to play in the game, CSUDH struck again. This time off the foot of Bella Amezcua who took a pass from Dana Dibble and fired a shot into the top left corner of the goal en route to handing CSUMB a 2-0 loss.
The Otters attempted four shots in game, three of which game in the 45 minutes. Whyte recorded two saves in her third start of the season.
