SEASIDE, Calif. — Adam Voloder (Sydney, Australia) wore the spotlight on Saturday afternoon against Cal State East Bay netting the first ever hat trick in recorded Otter history in 4-3 win for CSUMB.
While it was Voloder who got the glory, it was
Michael Maul (San Ramon Valley HS) who got the scoring started for the Otters with the equalizer in the 35 minute. From then on it was the
Adam Voloder show as the sophomore found the back of the net three times; he also had the assist on Maul's goal.
Despite holding a 4-1 lead, the Otters almost gave it away to the Pioneers, allowing the guests to score twice in a five minute span late in the second half. However, the Otter defense held tight, holding on for the 4-3 win in the season finale.
THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN... Down by one, the Pioneers took their final shot at the 82:58, sealing the deal on the Otters 4-3 win
HATS OFF... As mentioned above, Australia's own,
Adam Voloder, netted the first hat trick in recorded Otter history with goals in the 38th, 44th and 51st minutes.
ALL OF THE POINTS... Voloder also set a record for points in a game with seven as he added an assist on Maul's goal in the first half.
FOUR SCORE AND TWO YEARS AGO... Ironically, the last time the Otters scored four goals in a game was on Senior Day in 2014 against Humboldt State.
THAT'S A WRAP... The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team comes to close as the Otters end 2016 with a record of 5-9-2, 2-8-2 CCAA. Voloder ends the season as CUSMB's leading scorer with seven goals
