SPOKANE, Wash.. — Senior
Ben Garland (Santa Cruz/Harbor HS) put the final feather in the cap of the 2013 Cal State Monterey Bay cross country season, finishing 27th overall to lead a cadre of six Otters competing at the 2013 NCAA Division II West Regional Saturday at the Plantes Ferry Complex.
Garland navigated the 10K course in 32:45.99 in his first collegiate race at that distance. He finished 14th among the 42 CCAA competitors.
Freshman
Connor Henderson (South Lake Tahoe HS) also showed well in his first NCAA regional, finishing in the top half of the field with a 48th place finish (33:24.71). Fellow freshman
Ryan Torres (Ripon HS) placed 120th overall in 35:38.70
In the women's 6K race, freshman
Jessica McIntyre (Los Alamitos HS) led a trio of Otter harriers by finishing 85th in 24:05.64. That mark was good for No. 2 among all individual competitors.
Sophomore
Hannah Bell (Yorba Linda/Esperanza HS), also competing in her first NCAA Regional, finished nine spots back of McIntyre at 24:18.23. Junior
Jennie Yeaman (Escondido/Mission Hills HS) placed 115th in the 161–runner field with a time of 24:36.75.
