Men Still Searching For Elixir, Fall 84-62

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team continued to search in vain for the elixir to its sluggish first halves Friday night as Cal State San Bernardino jumped out to a big lead at the break en route to an 84-62 win in Coussoulis Arena.

CSUMB (2-10, 1-7 CCAA) stayed close early, taking its only lead of the game at 18-17 and trailing by just 25-24 inside the 10-minute mark of the first half. But San Bernardino (8-4, 7-2) went on a 13-2 run over the ensuing three-plus minutes to get its lead to double figures at 38-26. The Otters wouldn't get closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

A season-high 10 different players scored for CSUMB at San Bernardino. Sophomore guard James Thomas (Castro Valley/Bishop O'Dowd) led the balanced effort with nine points. Junior center James Thomas (San Bernardino/Aquinas HS) added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Theron Laudermilk led San Bernardino with 17 points. Kwame Alexander pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for the Coyotes.

CSUMB will look to snap its seven-game losing streak Saturday when it travels to La Jolla to take on UC San Diego. The game will be carried live on KRXA 540 AM and streamed live at www.OtterAthletics.com.
