BERKELEY, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay sailing team competed in the Cal Team race this past weekend at Treasure Island Sailing Center.
The Otters finished third with a final score of 4-4 on the day.
“The team keeps improving each race we compete in,” said head coach Frank Degnan. “They had a very strong at North 3-4 with a fifth place finish out of 13 boats. We will look to finish strong in the final two regattas.”
#Bradley Schoch# paired up with #Natalie Cardoso# with #Zachary Haney# and #Mark Hurdle# teaming up. The all-women's boat featured #Ashley Eberhard# and #Chelsey Hale#.
The race consisted of head-to-head competition between two schools comprising of three boats each.
After a traffic jam due to a jack-knifed semi on the Bay Bridge, the Otters showed true sportsmanship by lending a sailor to UC San Diego's team while sailing against Oregon.
The Otters next compete in the South 5 Regatta Inter-Sectional in Santa Barbara the weekend of March 26-27.
