Men's Basketball Dominates With Hot Shooting

HAYWARD, Calif. – Shooting 62.7 percent from the field, the Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team shot lights out against the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, 83-64, on Thursday night in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action.

"We played very hard tonight," said head coach #Rob Bishop#. "We are learning how to play to our potential and it was nice to get a lead and build on it. Now we have to get ready for UCSD."

Sophomore #Davion Berry# posted a game-high 30 points on top of five assists and five rebounds. Senior #Darroll Phillips# scored 13 points and sophomore #Brandon Ward# added 10 points.  Sophomore #James Albert# pulled down a team-high seven rebounds to add to his 6-for-6 shooting performance from the field.

CSUMB held a 46-31 lead at the half time break after shooting a season-high 70.8 percent from the field. 

The Otters controlled the boards, out-rebounding the Pioneers 41-26. 

The Pioneers were led by Mark Samuels's 17 points and three assists. Jared Waters chipped in 13 points.

The Otters travel to La Jolla on Saturday, Feb. 5 to take on the Tritons of UC San Diego at 7:30 p.m.
