COACH BISHOP'S CORNER: “We are going down to San Deigo to play another young team like ourselves that is playing hard but struggling to put teams away. Then we come back to play East Bay who is new to the league and very talented. They have several guys who shoot the ball really well and can present some match up problems for us. We have had another good week of practice and I am happy with the direction we are heading.”

OPENING TIP: CSUMB squares off with No. 7 UC San Diego on Thursday, Jan. 14. The Otters travel back up north on Saturday, Jan 16 to take on Cal State East Bay. Both games are at 5:30 p.m.
PREVIOUS OUTING: The Otters swept both games last weekend, pulling off victories against Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills.
COACH JIMENEZ'S CORNER: “As the saying goes, “if you want to be the best you have to beat the best” and we are playing some very good basketball right now on both ends of the court. We're excited to be heading down to San Diego to play the No. 7 team in the country. This is a great challenge for us early in the CCAA race and I think our team is excited, focused and ready to play the best team in the conference. We are coming off a road sweep of two very tough CCAA opponents which has given us some great momentum going into this week's games at UC San Diego and Eastbay. Our defense has come up huge in our last 11 games but we are really starting to figure things out on the offensive end and play together as a team. UC San Diego are who they are, the defending the CCAA champions and one of the top teams in the country. They are well coached, they have a fantastic guard in Chelsea Carlisle and veteran CCAA players who have been a part of those championship teams. It is going to be a dog fight down in San Diego on Thursday night. Cal State East Bay is young and new to the CCAA but they are scrappy, tough and have battled in every CCAA game. They are aggressive attacking the basket and like us, love to shoot the 3. They have quick guards, big post players and it's never easy to play on the road in this conference.”
