SEASIDE, CA – Senior #Keith Wilson#'s 17 points led the Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team to an 80-54 victory on Friday night at the Otter Sports Center.
The Otters improve to 3-4 overall and Menlo fell to 4-4.
Senior #Shaun Williams# racked up 14 points and five rebounds with senior #Jamelle Tolliver# adding 10 points. Senior #Sean Jergo# pulled down seven rebounds and freshman #Davion Berry# dished out a season-high five assists.
“Tonight was a good game to get us back on track,” said head coach #Rob Bishop#. “We had good practices this week and did good job preparing.
“It really showed when we came out strong and played good defense.”
The Otters jumped out to an 11-2 lead on three 3-pointers by Wilson and two free throws by Ward.
CSUMB controlled the first half, taking a 48-27 lead at the break.
Wilson broke the three minute scoring drought with a second-chance basket at the 16:39 mark, sparking a 10-point run.
The Otters out-rebounded the Oaks 40-34. CSUMB tied a school record with eight blocks, last achieving this feat on
“I was really proud of how we executed our game plan this evening,” Bishop said. We learned when we do the things we are suppose to do, we are successful. Tonight we were very balanced in scoring and were able to share the ball which shows with the number of assists. We rebounded better. It was nice to get this win before the holiday break.”
The Otters return to the court on Dec. 29, hosting San Francisco State at 7:30 p.m.
