(TURLOCK, Calif.) Kim Sordello hit a match high .476 and accounted for 12 kills as Cal State Monterey Bay swept Cal State Stanislaus by scores of 31-29, 30-23, 30-24 at Warrior Arena in Turlock. The Otters (6-12) improve to 4-3 in the CCAA while the Warriors (5-11) fall to 1-5 in CCAA.
"Kim was aggressive all night...we couldn't get her enough balls, " said head coach
Jody Garry. "As a team, we executed our scouting report and made enough plays to finish games."
CSUMB served tough and played strong defense making it hard for the Warriors to sustain any momentum throughout the match. The Otters finished with a season high 13 aces and recorded 67 digs and 9 blocks in the three game sweep.
Complementing Sordello's strong night was Courtney Taubert with 14 kills and 16 digs. Dana Grimm dished out 34 assists while libero Melissa Nickas recorded 15 digs and 3 aces.
"I was proud how we pushed through the flat spots to finish games...our serving definitely help push us through, " said Garry. "A win on the road in the CCAA is great."
The Otters play a non-conference match at UC Santa Cruz this Tuesday before returning home to host Cal State Los Angeles Thursday and UC San Diego Friday at the Otter Sports Center gymnasium. First serve is 7:00 pm each night.
