(Seaside, CA)  Christine Ricketts' 14 kills led a balanced offensive attack as CSUMB defeated CSU Dominguez Hills (20-30, 30-25, 30-25, 30-26) in the Otters' CCAA home opener Saturday night at the Otter Sports Center gymnasium.  
CSUMB (2-11) improves to 1-2 in CCAA play while CSUDH (1-12) falls to 0-4 in conference action.
Complementing Ricketts' performance was Courtney Taubert with 13 kills and Brittany Etchings' match high 20 digs and 12 kills.  Freshman setter Dana Grimm dished out 41 assists in front of a supportive home crowd.
"I was proud of our effort, " said head coach 
Jody Garry. "We stayed together as a team and fought hard to get an important CCAA win."
"We may have discovered something within ourselves tonight as the match progressed, " explained Garry.  "I saw teammates supporting each other and giving themselves to a collective effort."
The Otters enjoy a three match home stand next week as they host Sonoma State Wednesday, Sept. 19th, Dixie State on Thursday, Sept. 20th and finish up the week with Humboldt State on Saturday, Sept. 22nd.  First serve is 7pm each night.
