(Seaside, CA)  In front of an encouraging home crowd, the CSUMB volleyball team swept UC Santa Cruz by scores of 30-27, 30-24, 30-20 in non conference action Wednesday night.

"Overall, I was happy with our offensive efficiency," said head coach Jody Garry. "We kept our errors low and stayed mindful of our technique. Kendra Miller played well and it's great to see her compete in a match like she does in practice every day"

Miller led the Otters offensively with 16 kills and a .448 hitting percentage while Courtney Taubert continued her consistent play with 10 kills and a team high 19 digs. Juliette Ward tallied 36 assists.

"We changed our line up and I was encouraged by the play of Kiley Stout at libero and Christine Ricketts on the right side," explained Garry. "We need to put ourselves into the best position to be successful and both have stepped up to the challenge of adapting to a new role.  This may have been their first match competing at those positions but it certainly won't be the last."

The Otters continue non conference play Friday night when they travel to Belmont to take on Notre Dame de Namur University at 7pm.  CSUMB will be looking to even the season series as the two teams met in the Coaches Choice-Otter Classic Aug. 31 with NDNU winning the four game match 30-26, 27-30, 27-30, 28-30.
