Their Friday ended with one of the best times of the season as they won 7-4 to salvage a doubleheader split against UC San Diego.
The first game however was one of the worst times. The Otters gave up 19 hits and 12 runs-including 9 in the third inning of a 12-4 loss. The 12 runs were the most given up by CSUMB this year. The Otters rallied with four straight runs to cut the deficit to 11-4 before the Tritons (16-16, 11-7 CCAA) pushed over a run in the sixth inning to take the game by the run rule. Megan Russo and Kristin Rasmussen both went 1-3 with an RBI.
The second game started off fantastic for CSUMB as they opened a 5-0 lead and chased Triton pitcher Kelsey Ferguson by the second inning. Megan Luna led the Otters with 3 RBI on 2-3 hitting. Ashlee Trotter had a 3-4 day as all the Otter starters reached base safely. CSUMB broke a seven-game losing streak and improved to 9-22, 4-16 CCAA. Jessica Boyle scattered 10 hits and struck out six to get the complete game win. The teams meet again in Salinas at high noon Saturday.
