CSU Monterey Bay had made a habit of dramatic comebacks in the Desert but could not pull one more trick out of their hat.

After an eventful three-day weekend, the Otters (6-9) fell to the Texas Women's University Pioneers 3-1 to be eliminated from bracket play of the Triple Crown Sports Softball Tournament. The Otters finished 2-3 in their first-ever out-of-state trip. The Otters scored early in the first inning with right-fielder Jessica Wardle stealing home to give the Otters a quick 1-0 lead. The Otters seemed to lose their steam in the following innings as they faced the Pioneers' solid defense. The Pioneers scored on an error in the sixth inning to secure their win. Jessica Boyle pitched 29 1/3 of the Otters' 36 innings in the tournament and finished with 15 strikeouts.
