[BOX SCORE]
The Otters secured their second dramatic win in a row at the Triple Crown Sports Tournament 3-2 over Hawai'i Hilo, an NCAA tournament participant last year.
The game went into extra innings with the score at 2-2. The Otters (6-7) got a single by Jessica Boyle to drive in Megan Russo and score the winning run. The Vulcans (7-2) scored in the top of the first when a 2-run homer by Haunani Haasenritter brought the score to 2-0. That would be all the offense the Vulcans would muster. The Otters first scored in the second when Boyle first got on base with a single down the right side. After an error on the Vulcan first baseman, Melissa Nickas pushed Russo to third base. A passed ball gave Russo the chance to get home. After several hitless innings, the Otters got a chance to score again when a second base throwing error placed Nickas on base again. Nickas advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Michelle Asmundson and was driven home with a clean hit down the left field line from Kristen Rasmussen.
Jessica Boyle (5-6) pitched an amazing 8 innings holding down Hawai'i-Hilo's hitting to five hits and allowing only five walks while striking out four. She also helped her cause by going 2-4 and getting the winning RBI.
