CSUMB Softball made quite a memorable day in their first trip outside California.

In the second game of the day, Texas Women's University could only hold back the Otters for so long as CSUMB rallied in the bottom of the seventh to secure an exciting 6-5 win over the Pioneers. The Otters remained scoreless until the fifth inning when a base hit by Erica Wacker and a subsequent home run by Kristin Rasmussen put two on the board for the Otters. Their previous five hits were to no avail against the Pioneers tough defense as the Otters left many runners on base. However in the seventh inning, trailing 5-2 , all was not lost with a single down the middle by Erica Wacker. A walk from Jill Artoff moved Wacker into scoring position and a single by Rassmusen loaded the bases. With one out and a full count, Megan Russo nailed a monstrous hit over the left center fence for a walk-off grand slam. Jessica Boyle pitched only three innings until Ramona Garcia came in for four innings and her first win of the year.
