Otters Break Losing Streak With 7-2 Win Over Gators

[BOX SCORE]

CSU Monterey Bay ended a long losing streak with a 7-2 non-league win over San Francisco State in the 100th game in school history. The Otters improve to 13-32, 7-25 in the CCAA while San Francisco State goes to 7-36, 5-23. It was CSUMB's first win in nine games in April, dating back to the sweep of Bethany on March 31.

As the game didn't affect the league standings, it allowed many non-regular players to get some action. Andrew Milios got the start in left field and went 2-4 on the day with 2 RBI and his first career home run, the 50th in CSUMB history. Brandon Currie (1-1) scattered 3 hits in five innings of work to get the victory. Daniel Gomez went 2-2, including a three-run home run in the 4th in his 100th straight start. The Gators (7-36) got two late runs to avoid the shutout but stranded 10 runners. The win tied the all-time series at 7 wins each as the teams split the season series for the second year in a row. The Otters next play a doubleheader on Friday against NAIA school Patten University.
