CSU Monterey Bay lost both sides of a doubleheader to No. 9 Sonoma State by the scores of 15-3 and 4-3. CSUMB is now 12-26, 7-20 CCAA. Sonoma State won their 19th straight game and now has a record of 32-5, 16-2 in league.
The Seawolves chased Otter ace Andrew Shive (2-4) after four innings when they opened up an 11-0 lead. The Otters scored all their runs in the last inning, where Nick Zaballos had an RBI single and a walk and sacrifice groundout with the bases loaded. Zaballos was 2-4 on the day, the only Otter with multiple hits.
The Otters kept it closer in the seven-inning nightcap. Trailing 5-3, Budd Glock hit a leadoff homerun to start the seventh inning to cut the deficit to one. however, the Seawolves retired the side to end the threat and the game. Sonoma State's Brett Lysander struck out ten in six innings of work and Paige Dumont got the save with the three straight outs. The teams play another doubleheader starting at 11:00 Saturday.
