Otters Thrash Record Book with Come From Behind Win

[BOX SCORE]

The CSU Monterey Bay Otters won an exciting 18-17 game over the Toros. The Otters set school records for most runs in a game, biggest deficit overcome (6) and the second-most runs in one inning (8). The game had 14 pitchers, produced 37 hits and lasted three hours, 47 minutes. It was the Otters' (6-11, 3-5 CCAA) first-ever CCAA series sweep.

The Otters were up 5-1 and 6-3, but allowed 7 runs in the sixth inning and five in the seventh to find themselves down 15-9. That set the stage for a wild ninth inning. The Otters sent 12 batters to the plate and chased off three Toro pitchers in producing the eight runs. The Otters had five hits, including a three-run home run by Brian Trump and a two-run blast by Budd Glock. After all that the Otters still had to survive the Toros getting two runs in the bottom of the ninth before Troy Sanchez caught the game winning pop out with the bases loaded. CSUDH (5-8-1, 1-3 CCAA) had nineteen hits, but committed 3 errors and stranded 13 base runners.
