Otters Lose Home Opener to No. 26 Western Oregon

CSUMB played tough nine innings but in the end fell 4-2 to Western Oregon Tuesday afternoon.

The Wolves (2-3) drew first blood with when they scored on Paul Fisher's sac fly in the second inning. The only homer of the game was by WOU's Coubi Jiles in the fifth inning. The Otters didn't get anything going until the sixth inning when a double by Brian Trump made the game 4-2 but that was as close as they got. In a losing effort, Tyler Harvey went five innings, giving up only 5 hits, and registering 2 strikeouts. Leading the way for Western Oregon, starting pitcher Mike Cusick went eight strong innings with six strikeouts and no walks. Western Oregon improves to 2-3 while CSUMB drops to 0-4. The Otters next take the field this weekend in a four-game series against Saint Martin's in Olympia Washington.
