Otters fall to No. 9 Cal State San Bernardino

Mitchell has huge night with 25 points and 12 rebounds

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.  ---  Cal State Monterey Bay kept it close throughout, but dropped their California Collegiate Athletic Association opener to No. 9 Cal State San Bernardino by a score of 79-71 Friday night at Coussoulis Arena.
          
CSUMB drops to 1-5 overall (0-1, CCAA) while the Coyotes, ranked No. 9 in the nation, improved to 6-0 overall (1-0, CCAA).

#Joe Mitchell# was dominant for the Otters, scoring a game-high 25 points, pulling down 12 rebounds, dishing four assists, blocking two shots and making two steals in 39 minutes of action. #D Shon Cannon# had 17 points and six assists while #Augie Johnston# contributed 12 points.
          
CSUSB took a 40-36 lead to the locker room and the Otters kept themselves close throughout the second half until the Coyotes pulled out to a 72-63 lead with 4:07 to go in the game.
          
CSUMB shot 45 percent from the field (29 of 64), but were just three of 18 from beyond the arc. The Otters outrebounded the Coyotes 39-34.

The Otters travel to Cal Poly Pomona Saturday night for game two on this opening weekend road trip in the CCAA.
