SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. --- Cal State Monterey Bay outscored Cal State San Bernardino 22-5 over the final 12 minutes to pull within one point late in the game, but fell just short despite the comeback effort by the Otters. The final score was 47-45 in favor of the Coyotes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association women's basketball opener for both teams Friday night in Coussoulis Arena. CSUMB falls to 0-3 (0-1, CCAA) while CSUSB improves to 4-0 (1-0, CCAA).
#Dana Andrews# led the Otters with 18 points and 10 rebounds. #Alma Lopez# added 9 points while #Ja Nae Westmoreland# and #Sabrina Jenkins# each had seven points. Jenkins also pulled down 8 rebounds on the night.
CSUMB shot just 24 percent from the field (11 of 45) but made 21 of 30 foul shots to stay in the game.
The Otters continue their opening weekend of CCAA play at Cal Poly Pomona Saturday night. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
