Torricelli's two goal effort sends Otters to CCAA Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- In their first year of full NCAA Division II eligibility, Cal State Monterey Bay has qualified for the 2007 California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Championships.

The Otters clinched their first ever CCAA post season berth with a 2-2 tie against Cal State Los Angeles Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.  CSUMB finishes the regular season 9-7-3 (6-5-3, CCAA).

CSULA started quickly on Sunday with two John Massaquoi goals in the first 20 minutes of action as the Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over the Otters. 

A determined CSUMB team struck back quickly to get back in the match. #Nate Torricelli# scored off an assist from #Kyle Satow# at the 20:35 mark and Torricelli followed two minutes later with his second goal off an #Andy Breault# assist to tie the score 2-2.

Both teams went scoreless the remainder of the match and through the two overtimes. Neither team attempted a shot on goal in the the overtime periods.

#Brenden Baca# finished 110 minutes of action with 4 saves for the Otters.
 
The CCAA Championships are scheduled for Nov. 2-4 at the 8,000-seat Toro Stadium in Carson, Calif. The event will feature four men's and four women's teams competing over three days with the winners claiming the conference title.
