Men's Soccer drops match to San Francisco State

Otters host Cal State Stanislaus Friday at the CSUMB Soccer Field

(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.)  Cal State Monterey Bay had a 1-0 lead at the break but allowed two unanswered goals in the second period to fall 2-1 at San Francisco State on Sunday afternoon.  The loss drops the Otters  to 3-3-2 (2-3-2 CCAA) on the season.  The Gators improve to 7-5 (4-3 CCAA).

The Otters got on the board when #Andy Binol# scored off an assist from #Kyle Satow# late in the first period (43:58) to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.  The score remained 1-0 until the Gators' Wes Whitt connected off a free kick from Dylan Glass to tie the game at 1-1 at the 60:51 mark of the second half.

Five minutes later, Shawn Granger connected off a missed shot from Casey Poston to give SFSU a 2-1 advantage. The Gators held off late shot attempts by CSUMB's #Kyle Millerick# and #Nate Torricelli# to secure the win.

CSUMB hosts CCAA North Division rival Cal State Stanislaus this Friday, Oct. 5th. The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie in their first meeting in Turlock on Sept. 9th.  Kickoff on Friday is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
