SEASIDE, Calif. – Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo  team added a potent weapon to its arsenal as Head Coach Gary Figueroa announced the signing of Christina Vournas to a National Letter-of-Intent.  Vournas, a two-time Scholar Athlete at Agoura High School, will make her Otter debut in the 2010 season.

Vournas led the Chargers to two Marmonte League Championships with back-two-back undefeated seasons.  During her junior season, she had three shutouts and had a goals against average of 6.40.  She also racked up 48 assists, 32 steals and three goals.

“I am very pleased to have Christina joining our water polo team here at CSUMB,” Figueroa said. “She is our first early signing in our program's history.”

Vournas competes for the Los Angeles Water Polo Club and attended the University of Southern California Water Polo Camp.  She plans on majoring in Kinesiology at CSUMB.
