STOCKTON, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team saw their exhibition season come to an end with a 61-51 loss to NCAA Division I University of the Pacific at the Alex G. Spanos Center on Tuesday night.
Senior #Dana Andrews# led the Otters with 16 points, going 8-for-9 from the free throw line. Junior #Helen Suarez# finished with 13 points. Junior #Janet Oseguera# added at team-high eight rebounds.
"Our intensity on defense was great tonight," said head coach
Renee Jimenez. "I thought we played with energy and toughness for the full 40 minutes."
Pacific was led by Amy VanHollebeke with 15 points and Janae Young notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Tigers out-rebounded the Otters, 53-36, with Pacific pulling down 19 offensive rebounds.
Pacific is picked to finish fourth in the Big West Conference.
"These two exhibition games helped us figure out who and what we are as a team," Jimenez said. "And we are going to use this momentum to carry us into the (NDNU) tournament this weekend."
The Otters open the 2008-09 regular season against University of Mary at the Notre Dame de Namur Tip-Off Tournament. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
