INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD l TEAM-BY-TEAM RESULTS
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Posting a two-under par front nine, junior
Alex Sobstad (Trondheim, Norway/Midland College) struggled a bit on the final nine to conclude the first round of the NCAA Championships at 4-over par 76 on the par 72, 7,092 yard Cardinal Club Golf Course.
With the playing field still bunched together, Sobstad is a nine-way tie for 73rd.
Sobstad birdied his first and last hole on the front nine before opening with a bogey on 10. After carding two pars, Sobstad turned in two double bogeys and two bogeys the next four holes respectively. He rebounded with a birdie on 17 only to finish with a par for an 18-hole total of 76.
Central Oklahoma's Josh Creel leads the field with a 7-under 65. With his performance, UCO is on top of the leaderboard with a 9-under par 279.
Sobstad's second round tee time is 5:50 a.m. (PST) Tuesday.
