SEASIDE, Calif. – After a very successful weekend in Cal State Monterey Bay athletics, the Otters are ready to begin California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play this weekend.
The men's and women's soccer teams host
Chico State in the conference opener on Friday, Sept. 10 at the Otter Soccer Complex. The Wildcat men's team finished preseason with a 2-0 record while the women's team is 1-1 entering Friday's game.
On Sunday, Sept. 12, the Otters welcome
Cal State Stanislaus who are both ranked No. 8 in the first West Region polls. The women's squad went undefeated in preseason while the men's team drew a draw after opening up with a victory.

“The women have been training great,” said men's and women's soccer head coach Artie Cairel. “They have raised the bar amongst themselves and the mood within the team is awesome as we prepare to open conference play this weekend.”

The volleyball squad begins conference play on the road against No. 3
Cal State San Bernardino (3-1) on Friday night.
“We are off to compete against the best team (CSUSB) in our conference so we couldn't be more excited,” said volleyball head coach
Jody Garry. “It is a great test for the team to be put under pressure and see how we stack up against the very best.”
“We compete at
Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday night which is another big match for us” Garry said. “We split last year with them and have competed well with the last 3 years.”
The Broncos enter Friday's match against CSUMB's travel partner San Francisco State with a 2-2 record.
Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
“You couldn't ask for a better start to our season," Garry said. "Winning our home tournament gives our team the confidence they need to battle in the super tough CCAA.”
The Otters swept William Jessup on Friday before winning in four sets against Colorado State Pueblo and Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday.
“I was very pleased with the play of our libero, Dionna Lucas, who was stellar as a pass and defender, and excited for our senior middle blocker Mel Lashbrook to connect so well with our setters,” Garry said. “Both of these athletes trained hard this summer and it shows.”
The cross country teams have the week off to train after a strong showing at the Notre Dame de Namur Invitational. To the left is an interview with head coach #Greg Rhines#.
The Cal State Monterey Bay Athletics is still selling a new “seasonal” ticket plan for fans of the Otters. Season tickets will be now be offered in packages for Fall (Men's/Women's Soccer & Volleyball), Winter (Men's/Women's Basketball) and Spring (Baseball & Softball).
Pricing for ticket per season packages are as follows:
$30 for individual pass
$45 for family pass - includes 2 adults and up to 3 kids (18 and under)
CSUMB also offers the All Sports Season Passes for $75 for individual and $100 for family. These passes are good for general admission to all regular season Otter Athletics home games for 2010-2011.
