WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay Athletics Department recorded the second highest number of student-athletes on the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) annual All-Academic award list Tuesday – 54 Otters were among 453 student-athletes throughout the conference to earn All-Academic honors for the 2009-10 academic year.
The 2009-10 student-athletes have set a new athletic department record by surpassing the last three year's number of All-Academic award winners.
Varsity student-athletes who participated in one of the 13 CCAA-sponsored sports, totaled a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter units and maintained a 3.40 or higher grade point average for the 2009-10 academic year were eligible for All-Academic recognition.
UC San Diego had the most All-Academic selections in the conference with 85 for the third consecutive season. CSUMB was second followed by Sonoma State (49), Cal Poly Pomona (40), Chico State (38), Cal State San Bernardino (33), Cal State Stanislaus (31), San Francisco State (28), Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State East Bay (26), Humboldt State (25), and Cal State L.A. (20).
*Note: CSUMB Women's Water Polo, Women's Golf and Sailing do not compete in the CCAA.
