Offical ACWPC Academic Awards Release
SEASIDE, Calif. – Eight members of the Cal State Monterey Bay women's water polo program were given 2010 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC Women's Water Polo All-Academic awards on Wednesday.
Recipients are broken into three categories for their individual academic performance throughout the season while playing in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's contests. The seven award recipients marks the highest individual total of honorees during head coach #Gary Figueroa#'s six-year tenure at CSUMB.
"I am very proud of these eight players with their dedication both in the classroom and in the pool," Figueroa said.
Freshman #Ali Woollett# led the way for the Otters with her first outstanding rating from the ACWPC. She finished her rookie season with nine goals and four assists.
Senior #Sarah Ford# picked up her second superior rating, joining junior #Tanya Mullen# with the honor.
Sophomore #Alyssa Pecora# and freshman #Julie Cooper#, #Alex Tyrrell#, #Christina Vournas# and #Jackie Walters# all earned excellent ratings.
