WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Cal State Monterey Bay right-hander #Diane Ortiz# has been named the Worth/California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 1-7, it was announced on Monday.

Ortiz, a junior from Pomona, Calif., had two strong starts in helping the Otters to a series win against Cal State San Bernardino over the weekend. Ortiz posted a 1-1 record and 0.64 ERA while tossing two complete games. In 14 innings, she allowed 11 hits, two runs (one earned), walked seven and struck out six

In her first start of the series, Ortiz worked seven scoreless innings, surrendered three hits, walked five and struck out four. Friday's performance marked her third shutout of the season. Ortiz has allowed just two earned runs in her last five games.

The Otters returns to action on Friday, March 12, when they open a four-game series at Sonoma State.
