ORLANDO – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's golf team carded a 30-over-par 309 in the first round of the Golfweek Division II Spring Invitational and claiming 14th place in the three-day, 54-hole event at Reunion Resort's Independence Course.

Junior #Anthony Valdez# and #DJ Milligan# both carded a 4-over-par 76 to tie for 33rd in the opening round to lead the Otters.

Freshman #Dylan Jackson# is tied for 51st after turning in an opening round of 6-over-par 78.  Senior #John Jackson# is tied for 59th after each carding a 7-over-par 79. Senior #Jason Simonetti# rounded out the Otters scorecard with an 8-over-par 80 for a 70th tie.

Lander University sits atop the team standings with a 3-over-par 291, followed by Lynn University at 4-over-par 292 and Queen's University of Charlotte, which posted a 7-over-par 295.

Lynn University's Steven Brame tops the leaderboard, carding a 5-under-par 67 in the first round.
