SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team opened its exhibition season against NCAA Division I Santa Clara University on Tuesday night, falling 78-59 at the Leavey Center.
Senior #Helen Suarez# led the Otters with 19 points. Junior college transfer #Michelle Santizo# pulled down a team-high six rebounds along with her nine points.
After a 43-29 halftime deficit, CSUMB closed the gap to 13, trailing 59-46 with 7:50 remaining on a basket by senior #Jazz Herrera#. Santa Clara responded with a 11-5 run down the stretch.
The Otters return to the court on Friday, Nov. 13, competing in their final exhibition game at University of Nevada-Reno. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
